Madamakulam, about two km from Kuttikkanam junction, is a pond
under a gushing waterfall in the midst of thick greenery. It is one of the
unpopular tourist place in kerala.

During colonial times, the wives of British planters used to come to
bathe here and that is how it got its name which translates as ‘Madam’s
pond’. The locals were prohibited from using the pond. it is situated inside a
private estate. Because of this reason their are no tared roads directly to
this place.The interesting fact is that
,we have to walk a long to reach their. it will give a tricking mood.
A few
metres above the waterfalls are two rocks that seem like the breasts of a
reposing maiden who is looking up at the sky.
Hence, the rocks are named as Irumulachipara. Irumulachipara offers a
panoramic view of the valleys and plantations below.

How to reach ?
There are many routes to reach
Madamakulam, all of them long winded and interesting. since it is not that much
popular, their is no good roads straight to Madamakulam.
If you want to start from
Kuttikanam, the waterfall is a few kilometers behind the Kurishumala, the
majestic little mountain that’s visible on a clear day from Kuttikanam
junction. Walk a kilometer and half on the road towards Idukki (you will have
sign boards and mile stones to confirm what the local gentleman you just asked
suggested).
